Quiet Time

Vacations are so enjoyable when you can forget for a moment your work and other obligations and enjoy the company of your spouse and family. We visited the river towns of the Susquehanna that time left behind and enjoyed some unusual sights and places.

We visited the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia where I made the following notes:

4200 B.C.E. 1st calendar;

2400 B.C.E. Mayan and Aztec calendars of 365 days;

10th century Hebrew agricultural calendar;

7th century Roman calendar 355 days;

46 B.C.E. Julian calendar;

1582 C.E. Gregorian calendar and

Quietly wondered why it took so long for us to get it right when two ancient civilizations knew nearly 4500 years ago. I suppose it was because their priests were smarter or closer to the equator!

But I did not intend to discuss sacred time.
